The Empty House is a quietly arresting piece that plays with memory, path, and absence. At first glance, it resembles a simplified, near-childlike landscape: a country road bending past a house with stark white walls and a terracotta roof. But the lines — red, green, yellow, and black — do something stranger. They separate the elements, pulling at them like threads, tracing the space where presence has receded and emotion remains.

The house itself is more suggestion than structure. Its windows are blank, uninviting — ghostlike. A tree nearby stands watch, the only organic form in the painting rendered with texture and variation, anchoring the scene in something real. The road, meanwhile, feels symbolic: a journey paused or maybe one not taken.

There's a deep, restrained tension between control and vulnerability here. The rigid white space at the bottom right feels unfinished, exposed. The layered colors inside the path almost suggest a faded figure — or memory — dissolving into the landscape.
